Hi, we’re
Remote Craft

A team of experienced executives and entrepreneurs who know the power of leverage, and know The Philippines.

Our History

Remote Craft is the brainchild of our entrepreneurship, function building, and leadership experience combined with a love for The Philippines.

2004

James moves to Dumaguete City in The Philippines for the beginning of a two-year stint as a missionary.

He is literally dropped off at the dock with nothing but a Filipino partner and his bags.

2006

James returns from the Philippines having learned the Cebuano language, developed a love for the people and the culture and, of course, having eaten as much lumpia as possible ;). James pursues a degree.

2011

James starts first job at McKinsey & Company, and, in a high-pressure environment, learns the power of leverage with overseas teams.

“I would roughly sketch out a slide deck by hand on a piece of paper, scan it, and send it to a talented team based overseas. Then I would grab a few hours of much needed sleep. In the morning I would find my rough sketches in my inbox as beautiful slides ready for my analysis and conclusions. I could focus on the content and the analysis, not the alignment of text boxes or the proper use of color, and I could get more sleep. It made all the difference”

2013

James jumps into his first venture, a meal-planning and delivery business. Leveraging overseas talent to build the website, set up the shopping cart and shipping integrations.

The business is a complete failure but the lessons learned are priceless.

2014

James returns to employee life out of necessity, he introduces his new team to overseas contacts and increases productivity as a result.

2015

James joins Qualtrics, the most recent valuation is $1bn.Among other roles in leadership, James manages relationships with overseas cost-saving partners resulting in 8-figure savings for the company.

Qualtrics most recent fundraising round values the company at more than $2bn.

2018

Qualtrics is acquired by SAP for $8bn.

2022

James retires from employee life after turning $50k (from the SAP acquisition) into $4m over 3.5 years through side-hustles.

2023

Remote Craft is born, combining James’ love for the Philippines and ability to create and build functions and teams from scratch.
